My client, a West London Local Authority is seeking a Aid & Adaptations Surveyor for a 6 month contract

The role is to facilitate the completion of quality & timely major adaptations to home environments to meet the needs of disabled residents within council, private & housing association properties. To visit service users at home to ensure the environment is now suitable and ensuring that all information related to these processes is recorded and regularly updated. To build relationships with providers and joint partners and ensure that they are performing to agreed timescales and standards. To be responsible for the performance management processes, data collection and outcome monitoring within the Adaptations and Grants Service. To be responsible for identifying equipment that is no longer in use and ensuring it is recalled and recycled.

Essential Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

Experience in undertaking building surveying, including undertaking inspections, diagnosing defects, identifying breaches in lease and building standards, specifying remedial works.

A qualification in either RICS, RIBA, CIOB or equivalent Experience

Experience in working with and leading a wide range of stakeholders within a Public-Sector Context.

Excellent customer care skills with an ability to translate complex information making it easily understood

Experience of Project Management of complex remedial works.

Experience contributing to a fee earning business unit.

Experience of building surveying methods, procedures and processes

Knowledge of Party Wall legislation and experience of preparing party wall notices

Knowledge & experience of Building Regulations

Knowledge & experience of CDM regulations and their application in managing works

Knowledge of Right to Buy principles and methods for undertaking Right to Buy surveys.

General understanding of tenancy terms and leasehold conditions relating to building fabric.

Knowledge and understanding of the Equalities Act 2010

Experience and evidence of collaborative working and partnering

Ability to use a wide range of IT packages Excel, Word

Ability to attend meetings outside of normal working hours including evenings and weekends.

The role is as follows:

To acquire a full understanding of the role of Reablement, Occupational Therapy and Adaptations and Grants have in maximising an individual's independence and to keep abreast of service delivery issues.

To liaise with service users to establish the progress of outstanding works and respond to client phone calls requesting updates or information on their outstanding adaptations/equipment, ensuring they are kept informed and their queries are responded to.

To carry out follow-up visits to people with physical disabilities to check that adaptations have been carried out appropriately and to the agreed standards. To demonstrate and instruct clients, relatives and carers in the safe use of those minor adaptations.

To recognise situations when the adaptations have not met the identified needs and report the situation to the appropriate Occupational Therapist for follow up.

To establish links with relevant agencies and housing associations. Where necessary

organise and attend regular meetings with these organisations regarding minor and major adaptations.

To update service user case records on the local authorities electronic case record

system "Mosaic" ensuring that all entries are timely and meet departmental recording standards.

To make full use of all IT systems and technologies to produce and annotate relevant reports to enable the Occupational Therapy management team to submit Performance monitoring data in the required formats to meet local and National needs.

To liaise with contractors and occupants concerning the organisation and supervision of building works, ensuring the disabled occupant is not disadvantaged during this process.

To agree a time frame with the occupant & the contractors for the works to commence & be completed in line with the Borough's agreed time frames for adaptations.

To participate in regular reviews of the quantity and quality of work undertaken.

To participate in Team & Service meetings and in other discussions on issues relevant to the work of the Adaptations and Grants Service, & the wider Community Independence Service.

Site inspections

Repairs Diagnostics and passing onto surveyors and concerns regarding Disrepair,

Specification reviewing and assisting in tendering of works in compliance with the Councils Standing Orders and financial Regulations

Assist the surveyors in the preparation of design requirements, specifications, and the preparation of building related drawings to satisfy all regulations, standards and codes of practice, for repair and refurbishment to council owned buildings.

Assisting Surveyors in carrying out Project Management duties and ensure responsibilities in respect of the CD Regulations 2015 are fully met ensuring that partners are competent to carry out their responsibilities under the CDM legislation
