To be directly responsible for project managing designated capital projects of high value and strategic importance
To act as lead officer on behalf of the Director of Estates and Facilities in the planning, management and execution of the Trust's capital programme, and provide direction to colleagues on the management of the programme
Act as lead officer on behalf of the Director of Estates in managing and monitoring the Trust's capital budget
Develop and provide information to Finance for capital reports to the Trust Board and NHSI
Commission and project manage major capital projects
Lead on the development of policies and strategies for implementation of the Trust's capital programme
Direct and manage external consultants and contractors to ensure best value and quality is achieved
Provide professional and technical design advice to project teams, estates staff and senior management
Promote and lead on the implementation of the ProCure21+ procurement process for strategic development projects
Communicating highly complex design, financial, contractual and other project information to the Estates Directorate Management Team, all members of the Project Teams, and client user groups within the Trust, for the purpose of informing and gaining co-operation
Provide specialist advice to appropriate managers on all aspects of the development processes in order to facilitate effective decision-making and provide efficient management of risk.

A successful candidate will have:

Degree level qualification in Estates related discipline
Post graduate studies equivalent to Masters level in a related discipline
Registered architect / Chartered Builder, Surveyor or Engineer
Sound working knowledge of alternative construction procurement routes and competitive tendering procedures
Familiarity with NHS ProCure21+ procurement process
Broad technical knowledge of building services and construction techniques
Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
Familiarity with Building Regs and CDM Regs
Knowledge of HTM's and HBN's.
