Job description

Our client, an organisation in South Yorkshire, is currently seeking an experienced Water Safety Manager who will manage water distribution system maintenance on a day to day basis, including planned and reactive servicing routines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Regularly access the property list in order to ensure that the Water Policy is applied to all premises, maintain schedules of any systems taken in/out of service.
* Review and prioritise the water hygiene (and scalding) surveys, based on a prioritised programme.
* Develop water risk assessments across the Estate, identifying issues for resolution/management e.g. dead-legs, sentinel points etc.
* Manage the issue and scheduling of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works within the Planon system, ensuring accurate test data is recorded and available in accordance with the PPM instruction set.
* Liaise with maintenance teams and Water Management Technicians as appropriate, to ensure that the "Written Scheme" is understood, implemented and all relevant records are stored.
* Promote understanding and implementation of the "Written Scheme" including the water Policy and Procedures.
* Liaise with the Responsible Person and senior estate and maintenance managers, to ensure they are aware of progress to the measured PPM Plan.
* Conduct or oversee any water sampling that may require undertaking, manage and record any remedial works in response to adverse test results.
* Interpret water sampling results, advising the Water Technicians of remedial actions, and liaising with the Responsible Person and outside agencies where necessary.
* Optimise the use of Building Maintenance System (BMS) monitoring with respect to water, identifying enhancements to better achieve compliance with ACOP L8 and water management procedures.
* Remain up-to-date in the field of water safety at all times (Legionella), developing and delivering training, and establishing in house awareness programmes.
* Carry out periodic testing and inspection of installations, plant and equipment.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

* City & Guilds Mechanical Services (or equivalent) qualification.
* Substantial experience and expertise in pipework distribution systems including ventilation and water services.
* Specialist Water Management/Legionella training
* Effective budgetary planning and contract management skills
