Are you an experienced Senior Fm or head of estates? Do you have experience of working within the public sector including Health care? Do you have experience of managing a large portfolio of commercial properties?

My client are part of a public sector, client direct working as an area estates manager over seeing all the maintenance of a portfolio of 55-60 large buildings between Newbury and Bicestor. This person will have 1 direct report and 5 indirect. This is initially a 3 month FTC but for the right candidate a permanent role will be offered.

The main duties will include:

  • Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information where agreement and co-operation is required.
  • Communicates multi-stranded project, design, financial, contractual information presents work scheme proposals to senior managers, contractors and estates staff to gain co-operation
  • Provide advice and guidance working in conjunction with relevant professionals and specialists, to deal with faults and problems as effectively and efficiently as possible
  • Deputise for the head of estates where necessary including attending relevant meetings
  • Set up and attend regular meetings with colleagues to understand their needs from their estate
  • Act as an ambassador for SCAS, reflecting the expected behaviours
  • Establish and maintain good relationships and effective flexible team working which will include supporting Trust senior managers, Head of Estates and Facilities and Estates colleagues in order that the department is able to provide the full range of high quality estates services.
  • Work closely with the head of estates to analyse and assess the current systems with a view to continuously improving them, and to seek out ways to innovate to improve the estate with a view to improving patient care
  • Manage the briefing processes as necessary, including chairing forums within which clinicians, managers and other staff are able to effectively contribute to the project.
  • Responsible for managing own workload and to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Review, develop and implement policies and procedures for Estates services
  • Ensure adequate action is taken on all relevant Hazard & Safety Notices
  • Execute such other duties, as may reasonably be required and deputise for other managers within the estates function as necessary, including the head of estates
  • Responsible for ensuring that all properties within the patch are compliant with all relevant legislation.

The Ideal candidate will require:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • IWFM or Rics Qualified
  • HNC or HND qualification
  • Experience of over seeing hard and soft services
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Experience of P&L
  • Full driving licence
