My client is a well-established contractor specialising in the maintenance and refurbishment of social housing properties across Hampshire and Berkshire. Our work focuses on high-quality, reliable service, ensuring that tenants receive the best living conditions possible. We are looking to expand our team with an experienced Painting Foreman to lead a team of skilled painters on various social housing projects.


Job Purpose:

As the Painting Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the painting and decorating works across multiple social housing sites. You will lead a team of painters, ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standard, within budget, and on time, while maintaining a safe and productive working environment. This role requires someone with a strong background in painting, leadership skills, and experience in the social housing sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage a Team: Supervise and coordinate a team of painters, ensuring efficient work practices and high-quality finishes on all painting and decorating projects.
  • Site Management: Oversee day-to-day operations on multiple social housing sites across Hampshire and Berkshire, ensuring works are carried out to the client's specifications and project deadlines are met.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all painting and decorating works are completed to a high standard, with attention to detail and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Enforce safe working practices and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on all sites. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with site managers, clients, and tenants, maintaining a professional and courteous approach at all times.
  • Materials and Resources: Ensure that the correct materials are used for each job, managing stock and ordering supplies as required.
  • Reporting: Keep accurate records of work progress, staff performance, and any issues that arise, reporting back to the Contracts Manager or Senior Foreman as needed.
  • Time Management: Manage the workload across various sites to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and develop team members, supporting them with their professional growth and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience working as a Painter, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or foreman role, ideally within social housing or refurbishment projects.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and motivate a team, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Expertise in Painting: Excellent knowledge of various painting and decorating techniques, including preparation, application, and finishing.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of site safety regulations and experience in managing health and safety on construction sites.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and sites simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with colleagues, clients, and tenants.
  • Full Driving License: A valid UK driving license, as a van and fuel card will be provided for the role.

Desirable:

  • CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Experience in Social Housing or similar refurbishment projects
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating
