We are recruiting for a leading Social Housing Maintenance Contractor who have an opening for you to join their growing business as a Quantity Surveyor in Newbury.

The Quantity Surveyor Role
As a Quantity Surveyor in Newbury, you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite. They can offer a variety of works including established frameworks and core contracts with prestigious clients within the public, and residential sector as well as their services covering the retirement living, commercial and education sectors too. Specifically, you will:
* Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
* Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.
* Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
* Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual solutions are sought, always.
* Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety).
What will you bring as Quantity Surveyor?
* You will be inquisitive, organised, and honest as well as being a genuine 'people person' who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues. Fostering a real 'working together' environment, whilst building valued long-term relationships.
* Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role. Experience of the commercial management of projects from tender and estimation stages through to final account.
* Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million annually.
* Entrepreneurial spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, and areas for negotiation and better gains. You will describe yourself as commercial, analytical, and accurate in your approach.
