Job Title: Multi-Skilled Trades Operative
Location: Bracknell, Windsor, Slough + surrounding areas
Salary: Up to £37,425 per annum depending on experience + van + benefits
Working Hours: 40 hours per week


Purpose of the Job

To deliver an efficient, compliant, and high-quality repairs service to customers, ensuring customer satisfaction is at the heart of every job completed.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out a wide range of carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks to a multi-skilled level, in line with NVQ Level 2/3 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent.

  • Work on both internal and external elements of properties and communal areas.

  • Ensure all work meets professional standards, adhering to relevant building regulations, codes of practice, and best practices.

  • Liaise effectively with customers and colleagues to keep all relevant parties informed on job progress and actions taken. Refer complex issues to the line manager.

  • Provide a high standard of customer service and act as an ambassador for my client, promoting a positive image at all times.

  • Comply with all health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures, including appropriate use of PPE, tools, and safe working practices.

  • Aim to complete all jobs on time and to a 'first-time fix' standard wherever possible.

  • Accurately apply the Schedule of Rates for costing repairs and update repair orders accordingly.

  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota as required.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain accurate records in line with company procedures.

  • Use smartphones and tablets to record job progress, timekeeping, and material usage accurately.

  • Procure job-related materials through approved suppliers following company policies.

  • Maintain an efficient van stock and carry out repairs in a cost-effective manner.

  • Keep the works vehicle clean, in good condition, and report any defects to the Fleet Manager.

  • Support other trades as needed to ensure a high-quality service for residents.

  • Be open to multi-task working and training to expand skillsets as required.

  • Use all provided tools and equipment responsibly, keeping them well-maintained and secure.

  • Carry out any other duties within the scope of the role as reasonably required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Proven ability to perform a wide range of carpentry, plumbing, and other maintenance tasks to a multi-skilled level.

  • Hands-on experience across various property types in carpentry and plumbing tasks.

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in a relevant trade (carpentry, masonry, or plumbing) or equivalent time-served experience with competency in other related trades.

  • Experience working within a trade team to tight deadlines.

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking demanding work.
